Parts of speech in details

Words are divided into different parts according to their meaning or according to the work they do in a sentence.The parts of speech are eight in number and they are.

1: Noun

2: Pronoun

3: Adjective

4: Verb

5: Adverb

6: Preposition

7: Conjunction

8: Interjection


We want to define all of them one by one at the same time we want to understand with their examples.

A: Noun: is the name of a person, place or thing.

E.g: 1: Ali is a bright student.

2: Hargiesa is the capital city of Somaliland

3: This trouser is not new.


B: Pronoun: Is a word which stands instead of a noun.

E.g: He is a shopkeeper.

@ She is a kind mother.

@ We keep the peace and tranquality of the country.


C) An Adjective: Is a word which modifies a noun.

E.g: She is a tall girl.

@ The stranger man was standing infront of the house.

@ The brave boy is absent today.

D) Verb: is a word which expressess an action or state.

E.g:  The manager is in the office.

@ I am eating food.

@ Ali was writing down the lesson.

E)An Adverb: is a word which adds something to the meaning of a verb , An adjective or another adverb.

E,g:  The thief was running quickly.

@ She was atall beautiful girl.


F) Preposition; is  a word placed before a noun or pronoun to show the relation between them.

E.g: The teacher is in the class.

@ The students are sitting on the form.

@  The glass is full of water.


G) Conjucntion; Is a word which joins words or sentences.

E.g: The car will not move untill we bush it

@ I am very happy because  I will get rest tomorrow.

H) Interjection: is a word which expresses some sudden feeling of mind.

E,g: Alas! She is dead

@ Hurrah! You have done agood job...!
